There is eBay. There is Amazon. There is Etsy. There's a dozen or so others. Then there's the rest. The dream of commerce on the open web. The secret seems to be specialization. Want a hammer? They probably have it. Buy from here instead of going to the big box? hardware store. The Hammer Man has been selling hammers online since 1999, but can trace the lineage of Hammer Sales to the 1930s.

American Science and Surplus
This very cool online shop has been a source for weird and esoteric nonsense since before the Internet was a thing. They used to be a mail order company willing to ship you whatever goofy esoterica they happened across.
Unfortunately, in fall of 2025 they closed their online and mail-order warehouse. Two retail stores yet live on, so please give them a visit if you're ever in Geneva, Illinois or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While they are no longer open for business they will remain memorialized here as they are memorialized in my heart.
